Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball (10-13) had their six game winning streak snapped after falling to North Country 89-84 on Saturday afternoon in the McDonough Sports Complex.

The Vikings fell behind the Saints early in the first half but a late 6-0 run helped Hudson Valley cut their deficit to five points as they entered the halftime break trailing 40-35.

Led by Dave Reo (North Greenbush/Catholic Central), the Vikings fought back in the second half and trailed by one point for the majority of the final half. With 13 second remaining in the game, the Vikings had the opportunity to tie the game at 87-87, but Taylor Slattery's (Moriah/Moriah) three-point attempt was tipped on the release and the Saints secured the victory.

Reo led the Vikings with 22 points with seven made field goals to go with 8-for-10 from the free throw line. Raheem Duncan (Queens/Green Tech) played well, scoring 15 points, with 10 points coming in the second half of the game.

Mitchell Dame (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) and Brandon Degrasse (Bronx/E.A. Reynolds) were both in double-figures for Hudson Valley as Dame finished with 11 points and Degrasse recorded 10 points.

For North Country, Damon Hunter finished with a game-high 36 points with five three-point field goals and 11 free throws. Shamar Logins finished with 18 points for the Saints.

The men's basketball team back home on Wednesday, Feb. 14 as they welcome Columbia-Greene to the McDonough Sports Complex at 7 p.m.
