Men's Basketball Continues Winning Ways with 70-65 Win over Broome

Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball (7-12) has now won three straight games after defeating Broome 70-65 on Sunday afternoon in Binghamton, NY.

The Vikings had to come from behind as they were trailing late in the game with less than two minutes remaining. Hudson Valley increased their defensive pressure and pulled out the win behind Raheem Duncan's (Queens/Green Tech) team-high 17 points. Duncan shot 6-for-9 from the free-throw line in the second half to help secure the win.

After trailing 31-29 at the half, the Vikings outscored Broome 41-34 in the second half. Taylor Slattery (Moriah/Moriah) had a strong second half as he scored eight of his 11 points after the break.

Brandon Degrasse (Bronx/E.A. Reynolds) and Dave Reo (North Greenbush/Catholic Central) also reached double-digit scoring in the Vikings victory. Degrasse finished with 12 points and Reo totaled 10 points.

Tron Smith led Broome with a game-high 24 points.

The men's basketball team will be back in action this Wednesday, Jan. 31 when they travel to play Adirondack at 7 p.m.
