Men's Basketball Ends Losing Skid vs. Corning

Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball (4-6) ended its four-game losing skid after defeating Corning Community College 88-77 on Sunday afternoon at the McDonough Sports Complex. 

The Vikings held the lead over Corning for the majority of the game and took a 36-34 advantage into the break. In the second half, Hudson Valley extended its lead to double-digits, outscoring Corning 52-43 in the final 20 minutes of the game.

Sophomore forward Mitchell Dame (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) led all scorers with 24 points, scoring 12 points in each half and tallied 11 made-baskets. Dave Reo (North Greenbush/Catholic Central) had a nice game, hitting three 3-point shots and finished with 18 total points.

Corning cut the deficit to five when Brandon Degrasse (Bronx/E.A. Reynolds) and Sean Degraffenreid (Glenville/Scotia-Glenville) each made a handful of buckets to keep the Vikings lead safe to secure today's win. Degrasse and Degraffenreid each finished with seven points.

The Vikings are on the road this Wednesday, Dec. 6 as they travel to Onondaga for a 7 p.m. start.
