The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team (9-4) defeated North Country Community College (7-6), 84-78, on Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings jumped out to a 13-point lead in the first half, but then lost lead to fall behind by nine in the second. The Vikings made a final push and were able to hold off North Country to earn a tough road victory. Elijah Newsome (Cohoes/Cohoes) had a team-high 28 points, and Haseeb Kaurejo (Shaker/Sacramento, CA) added 14. Brendan Archer (Schoharie/Sloansville) recorded 13 points, and Jon Griggs (Rome Free Academy/Rome) and Codi Gorman (Shaker/Latham) each chipped in 11 points in the win.
The men host Columbia-Greene on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
