Ramel Alexander (Berkshire, Albany) of the Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team reached the 1,000- point plateau in a victory over Columbia-Greene Community College on Thursday, Feb. 11. The milestone is a rare and difficult one to accomplish at the two-year junior college level. Only three other players in the program's 55 year history have accomplished this feat.
The 18- point performance puts Alexander in third place on the Hudson Valley Community College Career Scoring list with 1,005 points, behind Ducey Hughes (1977-79), 1,314 points and Justin Gallo (2006-08), 1,148 points. Ramel is currently averaging 21.3 points per game and is third in scoring in Region III. He is averaging 16.8 points per game for his career.
The Vikings have two regular-season games remaining before moving into post-season play.
