The Hudson Valley Community College (12-7) men's basketball team defeated Adirondack Community College (11-7), 75-67, in a Mountain Valley Conference matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
Adirondack led at halftime, 35-31, and continued to hold the lead throughout much of the second half, increasing it to 51-39 with 11 minutes left. Hudson Valley's Carlos Pellot-Rivera (Carmel, Carmel) went on a four-minute tear of rebounding and scoring that directly led to the Vikings regaining the lead for the first time since the early stages of the first half. Pellot-Rivera ended with a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds. After Pellot-Rivera's spark, Hudson Valley began to attack the rim and convert the Wolves' turnovers into easy transition baskets. Hudson Valley closed the final 10 minutes on a 34-12 run.
Also getting into double-figure scoring was Ramel Alexander (Berkshire, Albany) who had 13 points.
The Vikings will be back on their home floor on Thursday, Jan. 28 when they compete against Fulton-Montgomery Community College at 7 p.m.
