The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team was defeated by Schenectady County Community College, 70-63 on Sunday, Jan. 17. The Vikings had not lost to Schenectady since 1993.
An injury-riddled Viking squad kept the game close and were trailing, 63-61, with less than two minutes to play. Hudson Valley failed to come up with keys stops down the stretch. After giving up a Schenectady three-pointer the Vikings were unable to convert around the basket in their final possessions.
Hudson Valley was led by freshmen Anthony Robustiano (Mohonasen, Schenectady) and Steven Hunt (Tamarac, Wynantskill), who each had 14 points. Hunt also added 10 rebounds. Matt Harte (Lansingburgh, Troy) chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds and made several key defensive plays to keep the Vikings in the contest.
The Vikings are back on the road when they travel to take on North Country Community College on Wednesday, Jan 20.
