The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team (7-3) grabbed a victory against RPI JV, 97-93, on Monday, Dec. 7. The contest was knotted at 47-47 at the halftime break. Ramel Alexander (Berkshire, Albany) dropped 19 points in the half. In the second half, Hudson Valley got rolling and were up as many as 14 in the half. Shots by Trent Tibbitts (Maple Hill, Castleton) and tough finishes by Steven Hunt (Tamarac, Wynantskill) helped to pace the Vikings who nearly relinquished the lead in the final minutes. Hudson Valley was able to make enough free throws to close out the game and go home with the four-point win.
Alexander ended the game with 24 points. Hunt added 15 and Tibbitts and Joe Keefe (Columbia, Rennselaer) both had 12.
The men will be back on the court against Mohawk Valley Community College on Thursday, Dec. 10, at 8 p.m.
