The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team (2-2) took down North Country Community College (1-3), 84-80, on Thursday, Nov. 12.
Freshman forward Steven Hunt (Tamarac, Wynantskill) put on a great performance from inside and out as he scored 22 points for the Vikings, 16 of which came in the first half. Hunt also added nine rebounds in the contest. Another freshman, Anthony Robustiano (Mohonasen, Schenectady), gave the Vikings a much needed spark in the second half as he scored 15 points on four-for-four shooting from the field including two three-point field goals and five successful trips to the charity stripe. Robustiano also helped to amp up the intensity and pressure on the defensive end, limiting North Country to highly contested, long-range shots.
Other contributions for Hudson Valley came from Ramel Alexander (Berkshire, Albany), who had 14 points and nine rebounds. Kyle Mafrici (Colonie, Schenectady) and Pat Lanoue (Hoosic Valley, Troy) each chipped in 11 points.
The men will begin a six-game road schedule when they take on Fulton Montgomery Community College on Thursday, Nov. 19.
