Richland College (Texas) defeated Hudson Valley Community College, 59-57, at SUNY Delhi's Clark Field House Friday evening, eliminating the Vikings' shot at a national title.
Dalton Austin-Michaud (Ichabod Crane HS/Valatie) led the Vikings (32-3) with 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Garret Bishop (Saratoga Spring HS/Saratoga) and Patrick Barnes (Mohonasen HS/Guilderland) added 10 points apiece.
Michaud gave Hudson Valley a 55-54 lead with a layup at the two minute mark, but Richland took a 57-55 lead on Tony Bishop's 3-pointer. On the next possession, Hudson Valley tied the scored at 57 when Barnes hit two free throws.
The Vikings had a chance to tie the score after Richland's Deointa Mitchell scored with five seconds left, but they turned the ball over on their final possession.
The Vikings will play Bergen (N.J.) Community College today at 6 p.m.
