Region III and the Mountain Valley Conference released their men's basketball post-season honors, and Hudson Valley Community College was well represented.
Ramel Alexander (Albany HS/Albany) was named first team All-Region and a first team All-Conference performer for the Vikings. Alexander finished the regular season averaging a team leading 14.3 ppg. and 5.3 rpg. Dalton Austin-Michaud (Ichabod Crane HS/Valatie) and his brother Ian Austin-Michaud (Ichabod Crane HS/Valatie) were both selected second team All-Region and second team All-Conference. Dalton finished the regular season averaging 10.1 ppg and 7.5 rpg, while Ian led the team in rebounding at 8.9 rpg and chipped in 9.0 ppg. He also leads the team with 97 assists to date. Patrick Barnes (Mohonasen HS/Rotterdam) was a third team All-Region and third team All-Conference performer for Hudson Valley. Barnes is averaging 11.4 ppg and 6.5 rpg. Garret Bishop (Saratoga Springs HS/Saratoga Springs) was selected third team All-Conference. Bishop finished the regular season averaging 9.3 ppg.
Head Coach Andre Cook was selected Region III and Mountain Valley Coach of the Year. This is the second year in a row Cook was named Region III Coach of the Year. Hudson Valley finished the regular season 28-2 and has won back-to-back Mountain Valley Conference championships, posting identical 16-0 records. Cook has an overall record at Hudson Valley of 115-38 and has led the Vikings to at least 20 wins in the last four seasons.
The Vikings are currently ranked third in the country and will compete this weekend at Jefferson Community College in the regional tournament.
