The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team remains undefeated and in the top spot of the latest NJCAA Division III poll for the tenth straight week. It has been a record setting year for the Vikings. They are currently 27-0 as they close out their regular season this week with a game at Cobleskill on Friday at 7 p.m.
All Hudson Valley starters are currently averaging double figures. Justin Gallo (Brunswick/Lansingburgh High School) leads the team in scoring at 21.6 ppg. Gallo recently surpassed the 1000-point mark for his career. Currently, Gallo has 1,054 point which ranks him second all-time.
Datwan Hemingway (Albany/CBA) has recorded 25 double-doubles for the Vikings this season. Hemingway is averaging 19.7 ppg and a Region III-leading 14.4 rpg. Currently, Hemingway has 374 career rebounds which ranks him fifth on the college's all-time list.
Emanuel Mayben (Troy/Troy High School) has been spectacular at the point position all season. Mayben is averaging 19.7 ppg and 9.3 apg. Mayben is two assists shy of breaking the all-time school record of 244.
Derrick Faragon (Rotterdam Junction/Schenectady High School) and Ryne Luce (Cohoes/Cohoes High School) round out the starting five for the Vikings. Faragon is averaging 13.7 ppg and is shooting 54 percent from the field. Luce has connected on 76 three-pointers this season en route to his 13.1 ppg.
