The Hudson Valley Community College (24-0) men's basketball team rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to defeat Mohawk Valley Community College 88-75 on Saturday in Utica.
Sophomore guard Justin Gallo (Brunswick/Lansingburgh High School) finished the game with 25 points and nine rebounds to lead the Vikings. In the process, he became just the third men's basketball player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Gallo currently ranks second on the all-time scoring list with 1,005 career points.
Sophomore guard Emanuel Mayben (Troy/Troy High School) finished with 19 points. Sophomore forward Datwan Hemingway (Albany/CBA) had 15 points and 14 rebounds and Ryne Luce (Cohoes/Cohoes High School) and Derick Faragon (Schenectady/Schenectady High School) chipped in 12 points apiece.
