The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team visited one of the top teams in Region III and came away with a 93-74 win at Tompkins Cortland Community College (13-6) on Sunday.
With the win, Hudson Valley improves its record to 20-0 and ensures itself of its third straight 20-win season.
Hudson Valley held a slim 21-20 lead midway through the opening half before going on a 31-12 run to end the half. Hudson Valley maintained its 20-point lead throughout much of the second half.
Sophomore guard Justin Gallo (Brunswick/Lansingburgh High School) led the Vikings with 29 points, seven rebounds and three steals. He has move into sixth place on the college's all-time scoring list with 925 points.
Sophomores Emanuel Mayben (Troy/Troy High School) and Datwan Hemingway (Albany/CBA) each posted double-doubles. Mayben ginished with 19 points and 11 assists. Hemingway posted 15 points, 11 rebounds and six steals.
Hudson Valley, which is ranked No. 1 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, will host fifth-ranked Herkimer County Community College on Saturday, January 26.
