The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team is ranked No. 1 in the country in the latest NJCAA Division III poll released earlier today. It is the fourth straight poll the Vikings have held the No. 1 position.
Hudson Valley, which is off to a 17-0 start this season, is one of two undefeated Division III teams in the country. Suffolk Community College-Selden is off to a 14-0 start.
The Vikings are averaging 100.4 points per game. Sophomore guard Justin Gallo (Brunswick/Lansingburgh High School) is leading the team with 22.2 points per game. He currently ranks ninth on the college's all-time scoring list with 849 points.
Sophomore forward Datwan Hemingway (Albany/CBA) has posted a double-double in all 16 games he has played this season and is averaging 20.4 points and 13.4 rebounds per game.
Sophomore guard Emanuel Mayben (Troy/Troy High School) is setting up the offense with 19.4 points and nine assists per contest.
Hudson Valley returns to action at 3 p.m. this Saturday, January 12 when it hosts Holyoke Community College.
