The Hudson Valley Community College (15-0) men's basketball team completed the first half of its 30-game 2007-08 season without a blemish on its record after a 99-92 win over Mohawk Valley Community College (6-8) tonight in Troy.
Sophomore forward Datwan Hemingway (Albany/CBA) posted his 14th consecutive double-double of the season after leading Hudson Valley with 32 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists and seven blocked shots.
Sophomore guard Ryne Luce (Cohoes/Cohoes High School) netted four three-point baskets en route to 20 points and four assists for the Vikings. Sophomore forward Derick Faragon (Schenectady/Schenectady High School) had 17 points and five rebounds and sophomore guard Justin Gallo (Brunswick/Lansingburgh High School) had 16 points and four assists despite sitting more than 13 minutes in the second half because of foul trouble.
Mohawk Valley, which had won its last two games entering tonight, got 26 points from sophomore forward Joel Almeida (Cape Verde Islands).
Hudson Valley, which had to play without starting point guard Emanuel Mayben after he had two technical fouls in the Vikings last game, shot 16-of-16 from the free throw line.
The Vikings will return to action Saturday, December 5 at Broome Community College. The game will begin at 3 p.m.
