Freshman guard Justin Gallo (Brunswick/Lansingburgh High School) had 26 points to lead Hudson Valley Community College (17-8/11-8 Region III) to a 67-66 win over Adirondack Community College (11-13/8-13 Region III) in men's basketball action tonight in Troy.
After a Hudson Valley turnover with 13 seconds to go, Adirondack had its chance to win but had a pair of shots bounce off the front rim before the buzzer sounded.
Adirondack used a 23-4 run in the first half to turn a 19-9 deficit into a 32-23 lead and went into the break with a 40-33 advantage.
However, the Vikings used a 13-0 spurt of its own to take a 52-47 lead with 10:08 remaining.
Sophomore Kevin Goutos (Altamont/Guilderland High School) added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Vikings and sophomore Maurice Lane (Bakersfield, CA/West High School) chipped in 13 points.
Freshman Craig Robertson (Rochester/Gates-Chili High School) knocked down four three-point baskets en route to 20 points for Adirondack. Sophomore Yhashin White (Brooklyn/Canarsie High School) added 17 points.
