The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team is seeded seventh for the NJCAA Region III Division III Tournament and will host Mohawk Valley Community College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28 in an opening round game.
Hudson Valley (20-10), which has won five straight games entering the tournament, is making its 16th consecutive tournament appearance. The winner of the first round game between Mohawk Valley and Hudson Valley will advance to play second-seeded Morrisville State College in the quarterfinals at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 3. The final three rounds of the tournament will be played on Mohawk Valley's campus in Utica.
Hudson Valley is 5-9 this season against teams in the 11-team tournament field, including a 1-1 mark against Mohawk Valley. Hudson Valley defeated the Hawks 72-56 at home on January 21 and suffered a 78-65 loss at Mohawk Valley on February 11.
Sophomore forwards Khylan Hunt (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) and Allan Dickson (Troy/Troy High School) each rank in the top 10 all-time on Hudson Valley's scoring and rebounding list. Hunt is fourth all-time in scoring with 947 points and tops the rebounding list with 581 boards. Dickson ranks ninth with 795 career points and third with 446 career rebounds.
