Sophomore forwards Khylan Hunt (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) and Allan Dickson (Troy/Troy High School) each posted a double-double in leading the Hudson Valley Community College (18-10/16-10 Region III) men's basketball team to a 90-76 win over Corning Community College (15-11/14-9 Region III) earlier tonight in Troy.
Dickson hit five three-point baskets en route to 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Hunt added 23 points and 12 rebounds for the Vikings.
Already Hudson Valley's all-time leading rebounder with 561 career boards, Hunt has moved into fifth place on the college's all-time scoring list with 922 career points. He passed Markael Brace, who had 909 points from 2001 to 2003, and Jack McMahon, who scored 918 points from 1960 to 1962.
Hudson Valley extended a 21-point halftime lead to 30 points, 68-38, with13 minutes remaining in the game. The Red Barons would respond to outscore the Vikings 29-9 over the next eight minutes to cut the deficit to 10 points, 77-67, with five minutes remaining but Corning would get no closer.
Sophomore Dane Samuels (New City/Clarkstown North High School) quarterbacked Hudson Valley's offense with 18 points, five assists and six steals. Sophomore J.R. Battle (Binghamton/Binghamton High School) added 15 points and four assists.
Corning received 22 points from sophomore forward Brandon Hall (Campbell/Campbell-Savona High School) and 20 points from freshman forward Gerard Johnson (Binghamton/Binghamton High School).
Hudson Valley will host Schenectady County Community College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22.
