Sophomore center Bill Heslin (Schaghticoke/Hoosic Valley High School) had 21 points and nine rebounds to lead the Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team to an 85-74 win over SUNY Delhi (8-9) in Troy.
Hudson Valley, which recently suffered through a four-game losing streak, has won two straight contests to run its record to 8-8 on the year. The Vikings will host Mohawk Valley Community College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 24.
"It's good to finally be winning again," Hudson Valley head coach Vince Medici said. "Our defense has really stepped up the last two games."
Leading 63-59 with nine minutes remaining, Hudson Valley went on a 14-4 run over the next six minutes to seal the victory.
Three other Hudson Valley players finished in double-figures scoring. Freshman center Larry Tape (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse High School) had 17 points. Freshman guard Brendon Bradt (Cohoes/Cohoes High School) added 15 points and four assists, and sophomore forward Bob Boughton (Glenmont/Bethlehem High School) contributed 11 points and eight boards.
Sophomore forward Lloyd Clinton (Brooklyn) had 19 points to pace Delhi.
