Sophomore forward Bill Heslin (Schaghticoke/Hoosic Valley High School) finished with 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (3-2) men's basketball team to a 79-74 win over Herkimer Community College (3-6). The win snapped a two game losing streak for Hudson Valley and was the third straight win for the Vikings over Herkimer.
Trailing 72-69 with 3:35 remaining, Hudson Valley went on a 10-2 run to close out the game and the win. Freshman guard Aric Kucel (Gloversville/Gloversville High School) had three steals during the run. He finished the game with nine points, eight rebounds, eight assists and four steals.
Sophomore center Larry Tape (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse High School) added 13 points for the Vikings, who hit 12 three-point baskets during the game.
Freshman forward Tommie Fair (Henninger High School) had 20 points to pace Herkimer.
Hudson Valley will travel to Broome Community College for a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday, November 22.
