Sophomore guard Markael Brace (Albany/Albany High School) finished with a career-high 33 points to lead the Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team to an 89-65 win over SUNY Canton earlier today in Troy.
Hudson Valley raced out to a 40-25 halftime lead behind the shooting of Brace, who had 29 of his points at the break Brace also finished the game with seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Freshman forward Allan Dickson (Troy/Troy High School) took control in the second half for the Vikings, scoring all 15 of his points after halftime. Freshman guard Steven Smith (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahan High School) had 11 points while freshman center Bill Heslin (Schaghticoke/Hoosic Valley High School) finished with nine points, six steals and five blocks.
Sophomore guard Jobany Tirado (Syracuse) had 20 points to pace Canton (5-4). Freshman forward Samuel Moise (New York) had 19 points and sophomore forward Kevin Clark (Waddington) chipped in 10 points for the Northstars.
Hudson Valley is home to face Broome Community College on Sunday, December 8. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
