Hudson Valley Utilizes Entire Roster To Defeat FMCC, 98-65
Troy, N.Y., February 7, 2002 - All 10 players on Hudson Valley Community College's men's basketball team scored tonight as the Vikings rolled to a 98-65 victory against Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Playing at Troy's McDonough Complex, five Vikings reached double figures and Hudson Valley drilled 14 three-pointers en route to victory.
Hudson Valley, which made nine of its first 13 three-point attempts, is now 13-8 overall. The Vikings have won eight of their last 10 games. Fulton-Montgomery is now 8-15.
Joseph Bell (Albany H.S.) topped Hudson Valley with 18 points. In addition to hitting four 3-pointers, he had eight rebounds and three assists. Paolo Walker (Columbia H.S.) contributed 17 points and 12 rebounds. Markael Brace (Albany H.S.) had 16 points; Jeremy Schneible (Greenwich H.S.) had 13 points; and Steve Valente (La Salle Institute) had 11 points.
In the 2000-01 academic year, Hudson Valley's athletic teams combined to win 72 percent of their contests. The ice hockey team won the NJCAA championship, the baseball team earned a berth in the NJCAA World Series and the football team won the Region III title. The women's basketball team earned a No. 1 national ranking and turned in a 24-3 record while the men's hoop squad competed in the Region III championship game. Additionally, two Vikings earned Region III Player-of-the-Year status, 20 were named All-Region III performers, and 10 were honored with All-American status.
