Albany High Grad Markael Brace Scores A Career-
High As Hudson Valley Upends Adirondack, 85-67
Queensbury, N.Y., January 14, 2002 - First-year guard/forward Markael Brace (Albany H.S.) exploded for a career-high 27 points as Hudson Valley Community College's men's basketball team downed Adirondack Community College, 85-67. Brace hit three of Hudson Valley's nine 3-pointers.
Hudson Valley is now 7-7 overall. Adirondack is 8-6.
Guards Steve Valente (La Salle Institute) and Jeremy Schneible (Greenwich H.S.) also played well for Hudson Valley. Valente picked up his first collegiate double-double, scoring 15 points and pulling down 12 boards. Schneible also contributed 15 points.
In the 2000-01 academic year, Hudson Valley's athletic teams combined to win 72 percent of their contests. The ice hockey team won the NJCAA championship, the baseball team earned a berth in the NJCAA World Series and the football team won the Region III title. The women's basketball team earned a No. 1 national ranking and turned in a 24-3 record while the men's hoop squad competed in the Region III championship game. Additionally, two Vikings earned Region III Player-of-the-Year status, 20 were named All-Region III performers, and 10 were honored with All-American status.
