The Hudson Valley Community College football team continued to show its dominance over JV programs as they went on the road to defeat Nichols College JV 61-6 on Sunday afternoon in Dudley, Mass.
The Vikings utilized several quick hitting scoring drives as they scored seven touchdowns in three plays or less, which was highlighted by a one-play scoring drive, a 73-yard rushing touchdown by Bo Catherwood (Troy / La Salle Institute).
The Vikings remained committed to the running game as they tallied 228 rushing yards and totaled 462 yards of team offense. Catherwood finished just shy of 100 yards, rushing for 98 yards on four attempts with two scores. Kevin Mayfield (Pleasantville, NJ / Saint Joseph Academy) grabbed nine rushing attempts for 63 yards and one touchdown. Treshawn Patterson (Utica / Thomas R. Proctor) rounds out the three-heading rushing attack with 48 yards and a touchdown.
Cameron Harbaugh (Mountville, PA / Hempfield) has a strong day as he passed for 186 yards on 10-of-12 passing with four touchdowns. Harbaugh accomplished everything in the first half of the game before he handed the reigns over to Dalton Howell (Middletown / Middletown). Howell closed out the game with 48 yards on 3-of-3 passing, including a touchdown pass to Demetrius Williams (Bensalem, PA / Bensalem) in the third quarter.
Receiving, Brandon (Cam) Hawkins (Oxon Hill, MD / Potomac) scored twice and finished with two receptions for 68 yards. Collin Johnson (Menands / Shaker) and Micah Gates (Lancaster, PA / Hempfield) also grabbed receiving touchdowns.
Defensively, The Vikings snagged a pair of interceptions, which ultimately led offensive scores. Mikai Ramsey-Middleton's (Piscataway, NJ / Saint Peter's Preparatory) interception jump-started the Vikings 9-play, 35-yard scoring drive to start the second quarter.
Caleb Blane (Smyrna, DE / Smyrna) grabbed a deflected pass by Dominic Jones (Cassville / Mount Markham) for his first interception of his career in the second quarter, which led to Patterson's 17-yard score to put Hudson Valley ahead 40-0.
The Vikings played to their strengths today and will have a short turnaround as they prepare for Nassau, a national-powerhouse program, which the Vikings have not beaten since 2016, a 28-24 win.
The Nassau game is part of Hudson Valley's annual homecoming weekend and will kick off at 1 p.m. at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of HVCC.
