The Hudson Valley Community College football team was victorious on Homecoming Weekend as they defeated Region 3 rival, Erie Community College 14-12 at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of HVCC.

The defensive battle was won by the Vikings as they recorded five turnovers with four interceptions and a fumble recovery, which was returned for the game-winning touchdown by Ameer Bateman with 6:48 remaining in the third quarter. The fumble was forced by La'Breilyn Wilson, who was one of four Vikings to record six tackles in the game. Brandon Lott and Shamarr Joppy also finished with six tackles and each collected one of the four team interceptions.

As the Erie Kats were threatening in the fourth, Lott intercepted Erie at the Vikings 14-yard line to secure the win with 1:43 remaining in the game.

The Vikings are back in action on Sunday, Oct. 15 when they travel to play Sussex at Sparta High School in Sparta Township, NJ. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
