The Hudson Valley Community College football program couldn't overcome late game penalties , coupled with some missed opportunities late in the fourth quarter as they were defeated by Nassau 13-6 on Saturday afternoon as the game was featured on ESPN+ as the NJCAA Football Game of the Week.

The Vikings almost jumped out to a quick lead as the opening kickoff was returned for a touchdown, but was overturned with a holding penalty. James Corke made a remarkable 40-yard field goal, putting them ahead 3-0. This score came after a lengthy drive of 10 plays and 72 yards that took 9 minutes and 16 seconds.

Nassau quickly responded in the second quarter with an electrifying play. Rayshion Bien-A returned a punt for an impressive 73-yard touchdown. Unfortunately, the extra point attempt by Thomas Zabransk failed, leaving the score at 6-3 in Nassau's favor.

The first half ended with Hudson Valley making another big play. Corke nailed a 50-yard field goal as time expired and the game entered the halftime break tied at 6-6.

The second half was a defensive battle as the third quarter did not have points scored from either program. When the fourth quarter began, Nassau seized the momentum. Kevon Hall broke free for a 25-yard rushing touchdown, and Zabransk's successful extra point kick put Nassau in the lead 13-6. This drive was fast-paced, covering 75 yards in just 6 plays and taking only 2 minutes and 13 seconds.

In the end, Nassau Community College secured the victory with their strong performance in the second half, winning the game 13-6 over Hudson Valley. The Vikings are back home on Saturday, Sept. 23 as they welcome East Coast Prep to the Outdoor Athletic Complex with a 1 p.m. scheduled kickoff.
