The Hudson Valley Community College football program earned its sixth win of the season after defeating the Connecticut Wild 27-18 in Middletown, Conn. on Sunday.

The game featured the Vikings All-American kicker, Frederick Callo, becoming the program's all-time leader in point-after-touchdowns (PATs), or extra points. Callo converted on all three PATs he attempted, which gives him the all-time mark record with 49 PATs, and counting. Callo and the Vikings have one more game on Nov. 5, a road match at Nassau. Callo is two successful PATs away from breaking the single season record and two field goals away from setting the career field goal mark as well.

Hudson Valley wasted no time to score against Connecticut as Jordan Moran hit a streaking Omari Hopkins down the right sideline for a 72-yard touchdown. The score remained 7-0 until Connecticut hit a 10-yard pass for a score in the second quarter. Moran is one touchdown pass away from tying the program's all-time mark for career touchdown passes.

The Vikings started to pull away late in the second quarter when they scored back-to-back scoring drives. With the Vikings already leading 10-6, following a Callo field goal, the Vikings Braedon Williams finished a 10-yard rush for the score, capping an eight-play drive.

Hudson Valley put the game away late in the fourth quarter as Connecticut was lingering, trailing 20-18, before the Vikings Braedon Williams scored his second rushing touchdown of the game a 17-yard score, capping off a six-play, 86-yard drive. Connecticut turned the ball over on downs on their next possession and the Vikings were able to run the clock out with the victory formation.

Hudson Valley closes out the 2022 season this Saturday, November 5 when they travel to take on Nassau for their Homecoming & Alumni Day game. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kick off in Garden City, NY.
