The Hudson Valley Community College football team was defeated at home 45-26 by Hocking College on Saturday afternoon as part of the Homecoming Weekend festivities at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.

The Vikings and the Hawks exchanged scoring drives in the first half as both programs combined the score 53 points in the opening half of the game. The game kicked off with back-to-back quick hitting scoring drives, which started with Hocking scoring on three plays in a 1:15. The Vikings quickly responded and took a 7-6 lead following a one-play 72-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Moran to Omari Hopkins

Towards the end of the first quarter, Hudson Valley, trailing 16-7, put together another quick drive as Moran found a streaking Isaac Jean-Baptiste down the middle of the field for a 61-yard touchdown. Hudson Valley now trailed 16-14.

To start the second quarter, Hocking was threatening to score, but the Vikings defense came up strong and kept the Hawks to a field goal, giving them the opportunity to take the lead on their next drive. The Vikings accomplished this goal at the 5:25 mark in the second quarter when Moran finished a 9-play, 64-yards drive with a four-yard score. Hudson Valley took a 20-19 advantage on the Hawks.

Unfortunately, the Vikings could not score again until the fourth quarter as Hocking College went on a 17-0 run over the next 20 minutes of the game. The Vikings final score was a 26-yard touchdown reception for Jean-Baptiste, which ended a 7-play, 57-yards scoring drive.

The Vikings will look to regroup and get back on track next week as they travel to take on the New Jersey Warriors on Saturday, Oct. 1 in New Jersey.
