Hudson Valley Community College football (1-3) lost 67-14 to ASA College at home on Saturday afternoon.

ASA College (3-1) put the pressure on the Vikings from the opening kickoff as the Avengers' Omar Truitt returned the kick 97-yards for the touchdown and the 7-0 lead.

After a couple change of possessions, Matt Fox (Brunswick/Tamarac) pinned the Avengers deep in their own territory with a 46-yard punt that sailed out-of-bounds at the 2-yard line. The very next play, the Vikings forced a fumble in the end zone and Devon Hill (Richmond/L.C. Bird) wrapped it up for the defensive touchdown, tying the game at 7-7.

ASA College started the second quarter with three straight scoring drives to put the game out of reach for the Vikings and headed into halftime with a 39-7 advantage.

Hudson Valley's fourth quarter scoring drive was highlighted by a 41-yard pass from Tajmaleeak Beckett (Jamaica/Flushing) to Josh McClean (East Flatbush/Sheepshead Bay) and Beckett immediately followed it up with a 28-yard scramble of his own. Jean Charles Laguerre (Haverhill/Haverhill) finished the scoring drive with rushing touchdown up the middle and Fox converted his second extra-point attempt of the night.

Hudson Valley is home next Saturday, Oct. 7 for the annual homecoming game and will play Miford at 7 p.m. under the lights at the Outdoor Athletic Complex. The Vikings will honor the members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2017 at halftime, featuring former football greats Emmanuel Marc, Darnell Stapleton and former head coach Bob Jojo.
