The Hudson Valley Community College football team (6-2) defeated Navy Prep 43-9 on Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings scored 30 unanswered points to close the game en route to a 43-9 victory over Navy Prep. Darrius Bryant (Indian River/Philadelphia, PA) got Hudson Valley on the board with a 3-yard run in the first quarter. Navy Prep would answer back to tie the game, but Rafael Hidalgo (Franklin K. Lane/Woodhaven) would find Jacob Bivona (Stamford/Stamford, CT) on a 34-yard strike on the ensuing drive. Jordan Newton (Albany Academy/Selkirk) would add a 37-yard field to take a 16-9 lead into the half.
Hidalgo scored on a 2-yard run to open the second half, and then he would find Bivona again on a 7-yard touchdown. Hidalgo closed the game with a 6-yard pass to Elijah Armstrong (Middletown/Troy) and a 1-yard run to cap his career-high five touchdown performance.
Offensively, Jaylen McIntyre (CBA/Latham) led the Vikings with 121 yards on the ground, and Craig Hardgers (Greece Olympia/Rochester) caught nine balls for 135 yards. Raymond Santiago (Washingtonville/Passaic, NJ) led the defense with 7.5 tackles and a sack, and Derrick Tate (Edmondson/Baltimore City, MD) added a sack, forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the win.
