The #18 Hudson Valley Community College football team (7-0) defeated Union JV, 50-16, on Sunday afternoon.
Shatiek Lewis (Troy/Troy) got the Vikings on the board in the second quarter with a 4-yard touchdown run, and Antoin Montgomery (Bishop Ludden/Syracuse) scored on a 47-yard pass from Rafael Hidalgo (Brooklyn Lab/Queens) just before the half to give the Vikings a 14-8 lead.
The Vikings turned it up in the second half as Nick Casale (Tamarac/Troy) came in at quarterback and had touchdown runs of 14 and 2 yards to put the Vikings up 28-8. The Vikings continued to pound it on the ground as Elijah Udoh (Manchester/Manchester, CT) scored from 24 yards out, Hidalgo from 14 yards, and Joshua Hinds (Boys and Girls/Brooklyn) ran it in from one yard out to help give Hudson Valley the 50-16 win.
The defense continued to be dominant as they held Union JV to -2 yards rushing on the day, forcing six turnovers. Tavon Town (Gar-Field/Woodbridge, VA) led the team with 8.5 tackles, five for a loss, two sacks and a blocked kick.
The Vikings host Globe Tech next week at 1 p.m.
