The Hudson Valley Community College football team (2-5) defeated Ithaca JV, 20-10, on Sunday afternoon.
The Vikings trailed 10-6 going into the fourth quarter, but a 12-yard touchdown run by Nick Casale (Tamarac/Troy) put the Vikings up 13-10. On the ensuing drive, James Seay (Potomac/Washington DC) intercepted a pass at the Ithaca 38 yardline, and Tyler Gagnon (LaSalle/Grafton) ran in a 12-yard touchdown to seal the win. Eric McCoy(Central Islip/Central Islip) led the team through the air with 122 yards and a touchdown, and Brandon Egan-Thorpe (New Paltz/New Paltz) tied a school record with 11 catches for 113 yards. Gagnon finished the day with 123 yards on the ground.
Seay had a big day on the defensive side of the ball with a key interception, a forced fumble and two pass breakups. Rashar Gray (Woodstown/Woodstown, NJ) led the team with eight tackles, 3.5 for loss and a fumble recovery. Naheshema Jackson-Sutton (Lewis/Baltimore, MD) was also in the backfield all day as he recorded two sacks for a total loss of 15 yards.
The Vikings travel Alfred State next Saturday for a game at noon.
