The Hudson Valley Community College football team (1-5) lost to Union JV 15-14 on Sunday afternoon.
The Vikings struck first when Eric McCoy(Central Islip/Central Islip) hit Brandon Egan-Thorpe (New Paltz/New Paltz) for a 9-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Union answered right before the half with a touchdown to make it 7-7.
Nick Casale (Tamarac/Troy) connected with Larry Zimmerman (Pine Grove/Pine Grove, PA) for a 13-yard touchdown on the Vikings opening drive in the second half. After a Vikings fumble late in the game, Union scored on a 7-yard pass on fourth down to make it 14-13. Union faked the extra-point attempt and converted the two-point conversion to take a 15-14 lead which is how the game would end.
Casale led the Vikings with 82 yards on the ground and 75 yards through the air. Rashan Umari-Stacker (Longwood/Middle Island) led the defense with two sacks and three tackles for loss.
The Vikings travel to Ithaca next Sunday to take on Ithaca JV at 1 p.m.
