The Hudson Valley Community College football team (2-8) defeated Hartwick JV (0-9) 20-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Vikings defense came up big on the day causing three turnovers and recording nine sacks. Landon Moore (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga) led the way with three sacks and a forced fumble, and Ke'Shaun Allen (Gar-Field/Woodbridge, VA) tallied nine tackles and a forced fumble. Justin Winfree (DeMatha/Washington DC) added two and a half sacks and Sam Chase (Mechanicville/Stillwater) recovered two fumbles in the dominant defensive performance.
Sharmarte Banks (Potomac/Oxon Hill, MD) returned the first punt of the game for a 55 yard touchdown and set the pace for the Vikings. Josh Gross (Old Mill/Baltimore, MD) led the team in receiving with five catches for 127 yards and a touchdown, and Nathaniel Robinson (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga) ran for 81 yards, including a 58 yard touchdown run.
The football team closes the season at Alfred State on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
