Hudson Valley Community College freshman linebacker Nick Gilbo (Moriah Central/Port Henry, NY) earned Northeast Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. Gilbo recorded 13 tackles (9 solo/4 assisted) and a pass breakup in the Vikings loss to Navy Prep on Saturday. He helped anchor a defense that did not allow an offensive point to Navy Prep, limiting them to 126 total yards and forcing three turnovers on the day. Gilbo leads the Vikings with 75 tackles and five sacks on the year.
The Vikings close the regular season this Saturday at home against Alfred State at noon. The winner of the game will play in the Region III Championship against Erie Community College the following Saturday in Buffalo.
