The Hudson Valley Community College Athletics Department announces the hiring of former Wagner University assistant football coach, Jason Houghtailing as the head football coach and athletic academic coordinator on an interim basis.
Houghtailing spent five years at Wagner, four of them as the offensive line coach. He also spent time as the running backs coach. Houghtailing's position included recruiting the Upstate New York area, specifically Albany, Utica, Rochester, Syracuse and his hometown, Binghamton.
Prior to his time at Wagner, Houghtailing was the defensive coordinator at Milford Academy Prep and was instrumental in their 20-3 record during his two-year stint at the school.
As a player, Houghtailing played one season at Lafayette before moving on to coaching after a devastating knee injury. He finished his degree at SUNY Binghamton and recently completed a master's in education at Wagner.
Houghtailing will be busy getting the Vikings ready to compete with camp beginning on Monday, Aug. 9.
