The Hudson Valley Community College football team (2-4) suffered a 30-22 setback to Nassau Community College this past weekend in Troy, NY. The Vikings got on the scoreboard first with a touchdown in their first possession, but could not hold on for the victory. The Vikings were held to 137 offensive yards by a stifling Nassau defense, and Kemar Burton (Eastridge HS/Rochester, NY) led the Vikings with a 91 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The Vikings are home again on Sunday, Oct. 19 when they face RPI's junior varsity team at noon.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, the men's soccer team (14-1-1), ranked second in the country, traveled to face Clinton Community College. In overtime, the Vikings were able to hold off Clinton 4-3. John LaForest (Cohoes HS/Cohoes, NY) led the team with two goals. They travel to face Ulster on Wednesday, Oct. 15, before returning home for their final home game on Oct.18 vs. Delhi.
The Hudson Valley Community College cross-country team competed in the Hamilton Invitational this weekend. They finished with a score of 304 points to place 10th out of 11 teams, with Julie Nabozny (Ichabod Crane HS/Valatie, NY) finishing in 19:46 for 38th place.
