TROY, NY - Former Hudson Valley standout defensive end Jonal Saint-Dic (JOE-nal saint-DEEK) signed a two-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs recently. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6-0, 253-pound native of Elizabeth, NJ graduated from Hudson Valley in 2005 after helping the Vikings to back-to-back Northeast Football Conference championships. Saint-Dic was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 and amassed a school-record 21 career sacks.
In two seasons at Michigan State, he played in 25 games, making 14 starts for the Spartans. A finalist for the Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award in 2007, Saint-Dic recorded 47 tackles including 13 for loss, ten sacks, five hurries and set a Big Ten record for the most forced fumbles in a season (eight) while earning first-team All-Big Ten honors.
A second-team Walter Camp All-America pick as a senior, he finished his career with 71 tackles (39 solo), 13.0 sacks, 19 tackles for loss and nine fumbles forced, including a Big Ten-record eight forced fumbles.
Saint-Dic now joins a group of former Vikings in the NFL that includes Darnell Stapleton (Pittsburgh Steelers) and Rashad Barksdale (Chiefs).
