The accolades continue to roll in for Hudson Valley Community College alum Jonal Saint-Dic for his performance this season as a defensive end for the Michigan State University football team.
Saint-Dic, who recently was selected as a First Team All-Big Ten Conference performer, has been named a finalist for the Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award, presented annually since 2002. The other finalists are San Diego's Eric Bakhtiari, Penn State's Maurice Evans, Ohio State's Vernon Gholston, Virginia's Chris Long, Indiana's Greg Middleton, Oregon's Nick Reed and South Florida's George Selvie. The 2007 recipient will be announced on Wednesday, December 5.
Saint-Dic ranks fourth in the Big Ten and 18th (tied) in the NCAA with 10 sacks. He established a Big Ten record with eight forced fumbles.
Saint-Dic, a 6-1, 255 pound defensive end from Elizabeth, NJ, graduated from Hudson Valley in 2005 after helping the Vikings to back-to-back Northeast Football Conference championships. He was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 and amassed a school-record 21 career sacks.
