Six Hudson Valley Community College football players were recognized by the Northeast Football Conference for their performances during the 2007-08 season.
Hudson Valley's offense had three players recognized as First Team All-Conference performers. Despite missing nearly four games, sophomore running back Bobby Ransom (Brooklyn/North Florida Christian School) was recognized after rushing for 529 yards on 125 carries. His 88.2 rushing yards per game average leads the conference.
Paving the way for Ransom were First Team All-Conference lineman Mike Williams (Poughkeepsie/Arlington High School) and All-Conference tight end Tyshon Gurley (Newark, NJ/Central High School). Gurley also has six receptions on the year.
On defense, sophomore linebacker David James (Forestville, MD/Oxon Hill High School) was a First Team All-Conference selection. He leads the Vikings with 63 tackles, including 16 tackles-for-loss, and five forced fumbles.
Hudson Valley had two special team's performers recognized. Sophomore punter Kyle Muir (Spencerport/Spencerport High School) led the conference with 36.2 yards per punt.
Freshman return specialist Bayshawn Wells (Lawrence, NJ/Lawrence High School) was also recognized after averaging 13 yards per punt return and 21.1 yards per kick return.
Hudson Valley will finish its season this Saturday, November 10 when it hosts Erie Community College at 6:30 p.m. The game will be played at Union College.
