The Hudson Valley Community College (4-2/2-2 Northeast Football Conference) football team could not overcome five turnovers in a 10-0 loss to 19th-ranked Nassau Community College (5-1/2-1 NFC) this evening in Garden City.
Hudson Valley fumbled on its first play from scrimmage and Nassau capitalized on a 28-yard field goal by James Hind.
The Lions then went 75 yards on five plays on its next possession to take a 10-0 lead.
Neither team could capitalize after that. Nassau had the ball inside Hudson Valley's 20-yard line six more times in the game but the Vikings defense was able to hold the Lions to no points over the final three quarters.
Jahmaine Rodriguez ran for 113 yards to lead the Nassau offense. William Porter had 93 yards on 15 carries.
Defensively for Hudson Valley, David James (Forestville, MD/Oxon Hill High School) and Eric Stephens (Stamford, CT/Trinity catholic High School) had 11 tackles apiece. Nick Carr (Albany/Colonie High School) had 11 tackles and blocked two kicks.
Hudson Valley will return to action on Friday, October 12 at 3 p.m. when it hosts RPI JV. Nassau visits Georgia Military College next Saturday, October 13.
