Three members of the Hudson Valley Community College football team were named to the All-Northeast Football Conference team that was released earlier today.
Sophomore Kyle Bowen (Albany/Bishop Maginn High School) was named to the All-Conference team as a return specialist. He ranked second in the league with an 11.8 yard punt return average and second with a 24.0 yard kick return average. Bowen also led the conference with five interceptions. He returned three interceptions for touchdowns.
Sophomore wide receiver David Smith (Jersey City, NJ/Ferris High School) led the league with 40 receptions for 476 yards. He had three receptions for touchdowns and had two rushes for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Freshman safety Jihad Morris (Newburgh/Newburgh Free Academy) led Hudson Valley and ranked fifth in the conference with 67 tackles. He also had a sack and an interception.
Hudson Valley posted its fourth consecutive winning season in 2006 with a 5-4 record. The Vikings have had just one losing season over the last 17 years and sport a 102-44 record over that time frame.
