The Hudson Valley Community College football team continues to hurt itself in the 2005 season. The Vikings (3-2/1-2 Northeast Football Conference) committed seven turnovers and were flagged for 14 penalties in a 17-7 loss at Erie Community College (4-1/2-1) on Saturday afternoon.
Erie took an early 3-0 lead on a 32 yard field goal by Adam Hahn just two minutes into the game. The field goal was set up by a 67-yard kickoff return by Lowell Robinson.
Robinson then gave Erie a 10-0 lead with 11:46 remaining in the opening quarter when he intercepted a Hudson Valley pass and returned it 32 yards for the score.
Hudson Valley got back in the game on a 13-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Jon Shanks (Millbrook/Millbrook High School) to freshman wide receiver Tim Bush (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) with 10:04 remaining in the fourth quarter.
However, a 45-yard touchdown pass from Neil Hallimen to Jeremy Burr clinched the game for the Kats.
Hudson Valley's defense held the Kats to just 166 yards of total offense. Sophomore John Fuschino (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa High School) made 12 stops for the Vikings.
Troy Wallace had two interceptions and broke up three passes to lead the Kats defense. Brian Wetzler made 10 stops.
