Hudson Valley Community College Athletic Director Drew Marrochello has announced that Bob Jojo has resigned his position as the college's head football coach. Jojo left the position to be with his wife, Linda, who recently accepted a job in Texas.
"I really enjoyed my seven years at Hudson Valley," Jojo said. "We always received great support from the college's administration, as well as Drew and the rest of the athletic staff. I think the program is in better shape now than when we first got there, and it should be a good situation for the next coach."
Jojo's accomplishments are numerous in his seven years at the college. Jojo posted a 42-21 record, and is leaving Hudson Valley with more wins than any other coach in the program's history. He led the Vikings to a Northeast Football Conference championship in 2001, 2003 and 2004, and took the Vikings to The Graphic Edge Bowl in 2003. He was named the conference's Coach of the Year in 1997, 2003 and 2004. Since 1997, more than 40 Hudson Valley players have earned scholarships to NCAA Division I colleges or universities.
"Bob had high expectations for the Hudson Valley football program. He ran his team with discipline and integrity, and cared for his student-athletes, which is why he was so successful," Marrochello said. "Bob touched many lives during his time at Hudson Valley."
Hudson Valley finished the 2004 season with an 8-3 record, and won the first-ever Northeast Football Conference championship game.
