Vikings Win Eight Games for Second Consecutive Season
Hudson Valley Community College is ranked No. 15 in the final National Junior College Athletic Association poll. The Vikings, who learned on Tuesday evening that they would not be returning to a bowl game in 2004, finished the season with an 8-3 record.
Hudson Valley, which won its final five games of the season including the first-ever Northeast Football Conference championship game on November 13, has won or shared the conference crown in three of the last four years.
"We feel the bowl selection process was fair. The teams that were selected ahead of us are perennial national powers that also had great years," said Hudson Valley Athletic Director Drew Marrochello. "We're very proud of our football team's accomplishments this year. Over the last two years, Hudson Valley has proven itself to be the premier junior college football team in the Northeast."
Hudson Valley has posted a 91-36 (.717) record since 1990, and the future looks just as bright. The Vikings started 14 freshmen in the Northeast Football Conference championship game.
