Vikings Can Clinch the Eastern Division with a Win
The Hudson Valley Community College football team will play its final regular season conference game on Saturday, October 30, when it travels to Dean College. The opening kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Hudson Valley (5-3/4-2 NFC) can clinch the Eastern Division of the Northeast Football Conference with a win over the Bulldogs (2-6/0-5 NFC). If Hudson Valley wins, it will meet Erie Community College at noon, on November 13 in the first-ever conference championship game in Orchard Park.
Hudson Valley overcame a 12-0 halftime deficit to win, 23-12, in its first meeting with Dean on September 18.
The Hudson Valley defense has only allowed 40 points over the last four games. Sophomore linebacker Shonda Faulkner (Poughkeepsie/Poughkeepsie High School) is second in the conference with 74 tackles this season. It is the most tackles by a Hudson Valley defender since Keith Hill, who currently plays at the University of Pittsburgh, had 76 stops in 2000.
Sophomore Jonal St.-Dic (Elizabeth, NJ/Elizabeth high School) leads the conference with 10.5 sacks and 23 tackles for loss.
It will be the 25th meeting between the two colleges when they meet on Saturday in a series that dates back to 1969. Hudson Valley has won 19 of the previous 24 games, including the last five contests between the two schools.
