Hudson Valley Community College (3-2/2-1 NFC) will travel to Morrisville State College (3-2/2-2 NFC) on Saturday, October 9 for a Northeast Football Conference game. The game kicks off at 1 p.m.
Hudson Valley is looking for its first win over the Mustangs since 2001. Morrisville has won four of the last five meetings between the two colleges and is 4-3 against Hudson Valley since the series began in 1997.
If Hudson Valley wins, Head Coach Bob Jojo will tie former coach Dave Bochette with 38 career coaching wins at the college. Jojo, in his seventh season is 37-20. Bochette was 38-10 from 1992 to 1997.
Morrisville scored 10 points off four Hudson Valley turnovers to win last year's contest, 17-10.
This year's game also could be decided by turnovers. Hudson Valley has turned the ball over nine times this season and is second in the conference with a plus nine turnover margin. Meanwhile, the Mustangs have committed 17 turnovers and are last in the conference with a minus eight turnover margin.
Hudson Valley sophomore quarterback Jonah Chappell (Brownfield, ME/Fryeburg Academy) has thrown for 606 yards and seven touchdowns against only one interception this season.
The Viking defense only is allowing 93.2 yards per game on the ground. It'll have to contend with Morrisville running back Calvin Hall (Rochester/Aquinas Institute), who is leading the conference with 137.3 yards per game on the ground.
