The Northeast Football Conference recognized Hudson Valley Community College sophomore linebacker Shonda Faulkner (Poughkeepsie/Poughkeepsie High School) as its Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 3. Hudson Valley's freshman kicker/punter Bobby Collett (Middletown/Goshen High School) was named the conference's Special Teams Player of the Week.
Faulkner finished with a career-high 19 tackles, including two tackles for loss, and broke up a pass in Hudson Valley's 17-6 win over eighth-ranked Erie Community college on Saturday, October 2.
Collett connected on two extra point attempts and made a 27-yard field goal in the win over Erie. He also punted the ball seven times and averaged 35.3 yards per punt. Three of his punts landed inside Erie's 20 yard line.
Hudson Valley (3-2/2-1 NFC) travels to Morrisville State College on Saturday, October 9. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
