The Hudson Valley Community College football team will host Dean College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 18. It is the Northeast Football Conference opener for both teams.
Hudson Valley enters the game with a 1-1 record and is coming off a 63-12 victory over RPI JV last Sunday. Dean lost its season opener to Navy Prep last week. The Rams kicked a field goal as time expired to beat Dean 20-17.
Hudson Valley has won 18 of its 23 all-time meetings with Dean, including a 29-16 victory last season in Franklin, Massachusetts.
Hudson Valley sophomore quarterback Jonah Chappell (Brownfield, ME/Fryeburg Academy) has thrown for 236 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions so far this season. Four of his touchdown strikes have been caught by freshman wide receiver Ricky Johnson (Newport News, VA/Heritage High School).
Freshman fullback Ervin Battle-Baldwin (Richmond, VA/Huguenot High School) leads the Vikings on the ground with 121 yards on 17 carries.
Dean wide receiver Antonio Bearden (Stone Mountain, GA/Stone Mountain High School) was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week last week after catching five passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns against Navy Prep.
